Sept. 19, 1955 - Jan. 20, 2007
Steve passed away suddenly Saturday, January 20, 2007 after a wonderful day full of laughter and fun with friends. He was 51 years young.
Steve was born in Concord, CA to Vi and Ken Hilt but lived most of his life in Sunnyvale and Santa Clara. After graduation from Homestead High School in 1974, he continued his education at DeAnza College and completed the Los Angeles City College Dental Laboratory Program. He worked in the dental industry for over 28 years where he serviced the valley's prominent orthodontists and was widely respected for the artistic detail he brought to the product.
Steve was passionate about his faith, family, traveling, and outdoor activities. He was an active Christian who loved teaching children about Christ. He served as a Trustee and Sunday School teacher at both Union Church of Cupertino and Saratoga Federated Church. He donated his time and carpentry skills to help Jeannie make Vacation Bible School a creative and special place.
Steve loved spending quality time with his family and friends. He enjoyed discovering new places worldwide, taking his family to Europe, the Caribbean, Alaska , Hawaii, and stealing Jeannie away on cruises to Mexico. Family ski trips and fishing trips were a must. Last Father's Day he caught a 11 1/2 pound trout and happily told everyone he knew.
Steve will be greatly missed by his loving wife Jeannie of 26 years and his amazing 17 year old daughter Laurel. Steve was an active father and supported Laurel in all she did with Girl Scouting, sports, school and church activities. He was looking forward to her high school graduation and helping with her college goals.
Steve is also loved and remembered by his father Kenneth Hilt, his brother Kenneth Hilt, Jr. and his wife Susan and their children; his sister Kimberlee Hilt Klemmer and her husband Phillip. He was welcomed in heaven by his mother, Vi Hilt. He is also lovingly remembered by the Hutson family, friends, neighbors, and church community.
A memorial service celebrating Steve's life will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 10:00 a.m. Saratoga Federated Church, 20390 Park Place, Saratoga. www.saratogafederated.org.
Steve wished to provide for Laurel's college education. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Scholars Choice FBO Laurel Hilt, c /o Smith Barney, 225 West Santa Clara St., San Jose, CA 95113.
